Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), celebrates his 61st birthday today, Monday, October 7, 2024.

This milestone coincides with the countdown to Ghana’s general elections, which is now just 61 days away, a timing that many within the NPP are viewing as a sign of positive momentum heading into the December polls.

Though no official celebration has taken place, NPP supporters and political allies have flooded social media with heartfelt birthday messages, expressing admiration for Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and political career.

Using hashtags like #HappyBirthdayBawumia and #BawumiaAt61, supporters praised his honesty, innovation, and commitment to public service.

“This is a man who has shown honesty, commitment, and innovation throughout his political career. Happy birthday, @MBawumia,” one supporter tweeted.

Another added, “Six decades ago, a future President was born. Our generation is lucky to have him.”

The coincidence of Dr. Bawumia’s birthday and the 61-day countdown to the elections has sparked enthusiasm among party faithful, who hope the symbolism will inject energy into the campaign.

As the NPP ramps up its efforts, the party continues to focus on building stronger connections with voters across the country.

In a memo released last Friday, the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong announced that all parliamentary candidates are now required to spend at least four days each week in their constituencies, strengthening voter relationships and boosting local campaign activities.

The memo also called for regional teams to submit weekly reports on candidate activities to the National Secretariat, a move aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the campaign.

With just two months left before Election Day, the NPP is expected to capitalize on the significance of today’s events, using the timing to galvanize support and push for a third consecutive term in office.
